The ongoing maintenance framework comprises of civil engineering, building construction and maintenance and a rolling grounds maintenance programme on the Top Tier COMAH gas terminal at Bacton.
Examples of works completed over the past 3-years include;
• The construction of Gas Distribution Control Room. The main building consisted of traditional strip foundations, steel frame and masonry clad build with a zinc roof covering, creating a floor space of 1044 sq ft. The project included the coordination and installation of associated mechanical & electrical systems and the refurbishment and alteration of the existing Gas Distribution Control Room into meeting room suite.
• Complete reconstruction of 17-meter high gable end to steel frame and clad Compressor Building. Works were conducted immediately adjacent to the sensitive compressor unit. With asbestos being present within the fabric of the building, rigorous procedures were implemented to not disturb the asbestos and maintain the safety of all worksite personnel.
• Construction of 14.5-meter diameter reinforced concrete tank base for new 8000 M³ capacity cylindrical steel panel holding tank. Critical base tolerances were required to ensure the suitable foundation of the new tank. Construction methodology required the frequent use of heavy plant, of which included 55-ton mobile cranes and 44-meter mobile concrete boom pumps.
• Construction of internal office units within existing main terminal building, consisting of timber frame stud walls and dry lining and all associated mechanical and engineering works. All works were conducted within the live environment of the existing open plan office space.
The on-going ground maintenance works consists of a team maintaining the overall hard and soft landscaping of the terminal of which include the external grounds adjacent to the public highway.
The day to day elements of the framework require close co-ordination between our project team and the terminal management team.
